Because of its brilliance, mosaic is considered among the most glorious expressions of liturgical beauty. Its angled tesserae play with light, while the rich colours and the flowing lines, called andamenta, suggest a world transfigured, restored to paradisiacal splendour. Working with colleagues, Aidan Hart Icons is able to undertake large works; we have recently completed a mosaic covering 50 square metres (540 sq. ft).
